Dépanneur owners say anti-tobacco law could force them to card everyone who buys cigarettes

The Association of Chinese Dépanneur Owners is asking for its voice to be heard at the upcoming anti-tobacco legislation hearings at the National Assembly.

Bill 44 aims to toughen Quebec’s current anti-smoking law by banning smoking on restaurant and bar patios while also imposing higher fines for selling cigarettes to minors.

The tougher legislation will force dépanneur owners to card everyone to avoid the steep financial penalties, say store owners.
