Winnipeg man, 51, charged after RCMP find illegal items hidden amongst icy treats headed for B.C.

A driver trucking a tractor-trailer full of ice cream from Ontario into Manitoba also had illegal cigarettes and $500,000 in cash aboard hidden among the icy treats, RCMP say.


“Our teams of traffic specialists in Manitoba are dedicated to improving public safety and eradicating crime on Manitoba roadways,” Insp. Ed Moreland, officer in charge of Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services, said in a statement.

Seized Containers of Contraband Cigarettes [Peru]

N.J. man, Henrico man plead not guilty in cigarette scheme

Two men allegedly involved in trafficking at least $9.5 million in Virginia cigarettes for illegal resale in New Jersey and other states pleaded not guilty in federal court Monday.

U.S. District Judges Robert E. Payne set a four-day trial beginning Oct. 17 for Eyad Salahedin, 39, of New Jersey, and Issa Qatrawi, 29, of Henrico County. If convicted, each faces up to five years in prison.
