The American Bar Association issued the following news release:
How can we protect the nation’s critical infrastructure from a major cyber-attack? Who regulates the wholesale electricity markets? Should the federal government allow tax credits for renewables? These questions and others will be the focus of the American Bar Association Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law spring meeting and webinar series April 23.
The meeting, An Infrastructure Crossroads, is a three-part webinar series.
The section will present three comprehensive sessions that will explore fundamental issues involving the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the latest regulations in renewable energy and updates on cybersecurity and critical infrastructure — the last of which will be introduced by ABA President Laurel G. Bellows.
Program highlights include:
“Manipulation or Arbitrage: Energy Traders, FERC and the RTOs” — Discussion will focus on the traders in the wholesale electricity markets who are under investigation by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for strategies that are described as manipulative.

“Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure” — The program will explore the legal issues and examine how the nation could prepare for a major cyber-attack.

“A Green Tea Party? Government Support for Renewables in the Midst of the Budget Wars” –Renewable energy was spared this year from federal government budget cuts, but what is the future of renewables in other budget years?
