The National Institute of Standards and Technology is seeking public feedback on proposed changes to federal guidance on authentication and proving one’s identity, under a recent solicitation for comment. The changes put forward by NIST’s National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace tackle a number of topics, such as expanded use of biometrics and limits on knowledge-based verification. The office is also experimenting with the feedback itself, using GitHub to seek comment in advance of a more traditional comment period.
