VA Coal Mine Safety Act Passes Committee

HB2471, an update to the Coal Mine Safety Act, passed Committe on February 14th.  The bill was introduced by Delegate Charles Poindexter (R-Glade Hill).

Description:  Updates the Coal Mine Safety Act to reflect current federal law and industry standards. The changes include expanded safety and emergency response plans; circuitry, voltage, and grounding requirements; and a penalty for any person who provides false information during investigations by the Chief of the Division of Mines of the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy.

CO Publishes Revised Draft of the Proposed Revisions to Coal Mining Regulations

The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board has published:

  • Proposed Revisions to the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining; and
  • Proposed Statements of Basis, Purpose, and Specific Statutory Authority for the Proposed Revisions to the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining.

Both documents are attached below. Comments are due by February 23, 2011.
