Prorating Fuel Consumption

Fuel consumption should be based upon passenger miles and/or per unit time.

As a retiree, I have only 41,000 miles on my Ford Bronco, which I bought new ten years ago. Thus, I have used less fuel per week on average than has a solo commuter driving to work 30 miles each way in a 30 mpg compact.

To put it another way: Four people traveling a given distance in an 8 mpg motorhome use less fuel per person than does a solo driver in a 30 mpg compact driving the same distance.

I believe each person is entitled to their fair share of available fuel no matter how it is used.
