Nineteen arrested in King’s Lynn and Swaffham over tobacco and money laundering probe

Nineteen people have been arrested following a series of raids carried out as part of a major investigation into the illegal importation of tobacco and money laundering.

Police and customs officers executed warrants at 22 addresses in the Lynn and Swaffham areas yesterday.

Drugs, a firearm and ammunition, jewellery, electrical equipment and five vehicles were seized.

In an exclusive dialogue with BLU Radio, the director of the Fiscal and Customs Police (Polfa), General Juan Carlos Buitrago, assured that in 2018 765,000 smuggled pharmaceuticals have been seized, which otherwise would place the health and lives of Colombians in grave danger.

Australian Authorities Bust Illegal Tobacco Farm, 28 Tonnes of Illegal Tobacco Seized



In total 28 tonnes of tobacco and 45,000 seedlings were seized in the raids with the crops spread across 22 hectares.

The haul has an estimated excise value of $30 million with Queensland police estimating the street value to be double that amount.
