From CRE’s DME Hotline: 1-800-613-7678 (Ames, IA)
“I am a 70 year old retired nurse. I live in Ames, Iowa. I am very concerned that I will be able to continue to get my medical equipment from my business of choice. My pharmacy is also concerned about what’s going to happen to them. Both of these businesses think they are going to be driven out of business with the changes that are coming.
I thought we were trying to help small businesses get started and hire people. If this happens we will have more people out of work. I know we need to protect Medicare but we also need to provide jobs and so forth for our local businesses and I truly, truly hope that my medical equipment provider, Trace Medical in Ames and the other one is affiliated with our hospital so I think they are both threatened. These people also need to remember, the hospital needs to remember, that they offer people a choice of where they get their equipment or the clinic and not tell them. Yes there are things that need to be improved but let’s not drive successful caring businesses out of business. I thank you. Please proceed carefully. Happy holidays. The Lord bless. I’m praying.”
