EPA Extends Comment Periods for PM NAAQS Documents
On October 5, 2009, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency announced an extension of the public comment period for two draft assessment documents. These two documents are entitled, first, Risk Assessment to Support the Review of the PM Primary National Ambient Air Quality Standards--External Review Draft; and, second, Particulate Matter Urban-Focused Visibility Assessment--External Review Draft (74 FR 46589; September 10, 2009). The original comment period ended on October 15, 2009. The extended comment period will end on November 9, 2009. EPA said in it Federal Register notice of the extension that the Agency is "extending the comment period to provide stakeholders and the public with adequate time to conduct appropriate analysis and prepare meaningful comments."

Also on October 5, 2009, EPA published a Federal Register notice that the Agency is extending the public comment period for the ``Integrated Science Assessment for Particulate Matter--Second External Review Draft'' (EPA/600/R-08/139B and EPA/600/R-08/139BA). The original comment period ended on a Federal holiday, October 12, 2009. Consequently, EPA is extending the comment period to October 13, 2009.
