OCS Seeks Information on What Happens when Marine Mammals Eat or Become Entangled in Ocean Trash
The Ocean Conservancy is reviewing and compiling information on the ingestion or entanglement of marine mammals in ocean trash and/or discarded, lost, or abandoned fishing gear.

The Conservancy seeks all information on these issues, but especially theses/dissertations, "gray" literature, government reports, or other publications with limited distribution. The Conservancy is also interested in anecdotal information.

The Conservancy will share the bibliography it's already compiled with other interested researchers, conservationists, and educators.

CRE Brazil recently posted online the English translation of an interview with Prof. Salvatore Siciliano on the primary threats to marine mammals off the coast of Brazil. He states in his interview that marine mammals' eating or becoming entangled with ocean trash is "our biggest problem." CRE will inform the Ocean Conservancy of Prof. Siciliano's definitive research on the marine mammal effects of discarded plastic and other ocean pollution in Brazil.
