A Different Sort Of Medical Marijuana Court Case
Americans For Safe Access have sued the federal government to try to force it to stop spreading misinformation about the health benefits of marijuana. The article is a little confusing. The information on the Americans For Safe Access website is much clearer. It seems there already is a law on the books called the Data Quality Act which requires federal agencies "to rely on sound science when disseminating information to the public." Man, who would've thought that had to be written into the law? This suit was originally dismissed in 2007. The appeal is before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
I couldn't help but notice that the Google ads on the L.A. Times article (first link above) are much more interesting than what we get on the Desert Sun, where all the ads are for something dealing with one end of the alimentary canal or the other, with an occasional cardiovascular ad thrown in. But in the L.A. Times you get an ad for Marijuana Medicine Evaluation Centers where nice looking white men will write you up a scrip for "Nature's Remedy" (and they don't mean prunes). And an ad for vaporizers which come in a wide range of styles, from brushed aluminum to to something that looks like a Heathkit (remember Heathkit?).
