The Office of Management and Budget wants to merge the government’s two acquisition training schools. If OMB finds a sponsor for the necessary legislation, Defense Acquisition Institute and Federal Acquisition Institute could become the Federal Acquisition University, said Paul Denett, OMB procurement policy administrator. A merger of the two schools, which already operate out of the same campus and coordinate on course work and certification requirements, has been talked about for many years. Earlier this year, the Acquisition Advisory Panel recommended OMB study combining the programs.
